A couple weeks ago I took pictures of Jenn T. It was her first time taking pictures like this and I think she did really well.
She brought a friend with her that was interested in photography, in fact he takes classes in it. In between shooting with Jenn I was talking to him about photos, trying to show him things that I learnt from… books, websites, etc. I believe in giving out knowledge, it doesn’t hurt, it gives you a good feeling, it generally helps your reputation.
Apparently, at some point he showed his professor my website and my work. I got the impression the professor was less than impressed. Which reminds me of another ding-a-ling here in Windsor that has said something similar.
The negativity I receive used to kinda get to me, but more and more I see it as people reacting jealously. I’m doing things, and free to do things, that they maybe can’t because of the little box they have placed themselves in.
Dieter is the perfect example of why the “spooky kids” make such great models. These pictures are creepy, expressive and interesting. The ones of him in the jacket I could see being a portrait of a modern day Jack the Ripper.
It is not often that I get a chance to work with male models. I think these pictures turned out fairly well although there was some hiccups along the way. It reaffirms my belief that I should work with more males.
Laura contacted me via Kijiji.ca (a canadian version of craigslist) for portraits of herself as a christmas gift for her boyfriend. I think the pictures turned out really well, they have kind of a romantic feel to them. Additionally, I think it was a creative and thoughtful gift to give someone.
I hope they enjoy them for years to come.
Brittany is a sweet girl that I took photos of a couple weeks ago. She was challenge for me because she isn’t goth, she isn’t fetish, she is a normal nice girl. I need more challenges in my life like this, I think it was a good experience for me to work with her and I look forward to working with her again.
Infact, we already have some ideas lined up for the next photosession, which hopefully will be happening in January. They will be sexy, as if she needs to be any sexier.
A couple weekends ago I had the chance to have my second photosession working with Sam. This time she brought a small crew with her including Saraya, Dieter, and Vyrula (much appreciated for all the good models Sam, all the photos turned out awesome).
I think we got some really unique photographs of her and at least one iconic photo of her in the furry jacket. I like working with her because she is creative and fun.
Tam and her boyfriend came over the other day and we took so great photos of her. At first since it was her first photosession she was really quite nervous and visibly trembling. But after about 30 minutes infront of the camera she started to relax and I think we got some very nice pictures of her in.
We have plans to do another photosession this time much more political.
Jenn was fun to work with because she loves the color pink, if it is not already obvious from her pictures. This was her first photosession with anyone and I think she did quite well. I kinda slipped up and did some stupid things that I had planned on doing but forgot.
I hope she comes back and we can take some more pink pictures…
Sylver came over to do content sets for various websites that she is on and for applications to some others. Four sets later we were pretty wiped out so I took a couple portfolio shots for myself. The plan is she will come back soon and we will do more stuff.
In the meantime she has told me at least one of the sets has been accepted and will appear on BrokenDollz.com shortly.
This is my friend Eva, I’ve known her for several years. She let me take these pictures of her on the 13th of April, 2005, back when I was probably still learning my camera settings :)
Recently, however, she has found out she has to get a MRI done for herself to test for Multiple Sclerosis and she doesn’t quite know how she will pay for it yet. So she has set up a donate button on her journal to help offset her costs.
You can find her donate button on her LiveJournal , but even if you can’t contribute you can also send her some kind words on her MySpace . I’m sure she would appreciate it.
Alekx came with Roxi the other night so we did some photos of her as well. CHeckout her eyes they are pretty cool. Also the way she is laying on her fur blanket it almost looks like something you would see in a magazine.
Alekx and Roxi can come back anytime. Infact, Roxi already did for conceptual/erotic art. I’ll be posting those later.
These photographs were take back in the summer of 2004. Seems like a very long time ago. They are back from when I half-heartily considered taking better photos.
I found these while reorganizing my computer’s files. So I thought it would be “fun” to through a couple up.
models: Angelique, Claire, Emily, and Rosemary
I fear that I might be using silhouettes too much but I just love how they turn out. I tried to make these less dark then the others. Some people found my other silhouettes too dark and too contrast-y.
Some people have asked how I’m doing them. I position the subject about two or three feet away from the wall. Then I aim my strobes at the wall and bounce it back onto the person.
Jenn is one of the people that I’m behind on posting her pictures. We did a shoot just the other week with her hair in a faux-hawk that I haven’t posted yet out of laziness… so instead I’ll post these first.
Again these are from the Windsor Shoot Off
While getting ready to shoot the content sets for her we took some time to warm up, take some pictures, set up the lighting, and get to know each other. Ten mintes before this we hadn’t ever met so I’m sure both of us were slightly nervous. Well I know I was, I am a shy person.
Oh yeah and Joe Jackson made some intermittant appearances. This was when he was being “good”. The rest of the time he was kind of a devil on four legs.
This is the last of the Windsor Shoot Off pictures. It is quite a few people that I didn’t work with long enough to get to know all their names. Sorry.
I think I’m in love with my hallway. All the leading lines, the crappy lighting. I wish they hadn’t re-carpeted in the hallway. Makes it look less spooky and more like a cheap motel.
Anyways, Lauren looks wonderful in my hallway. I could see her on a fashion page in something like Clear Magazine
Additionally, these pictures I like because she looks lonely all by herself in the long crappy hallway. I like my lonely pictures.
Kat asked specifically for silhouettes which is awesome I like it when people have a preconceived vision in their head what they want to do. It feels more natural.
I think though in some of the images her eyes really came out nicely. She also looks like a movie star from the 50’s in them… if I could get the lighting correct. Damn lighting always gets in my way.
Lauren came by, she whipped out the dinosaur and I thought I had just let a crazy person in my home. But the pictures turned out way cute I think. Yes, I used the word cute and way before it. Looking at the pictures actually makes me LOL.
Anyways, she was great to work with.
Go visit her at her website: nakedbarbies.net
There will be plenty more of her pictures coming in the next couple days.
Joe Jackson finished like his billionth photosession. This time, him and the new pink chair. He has claimed it as his own, infact he rarely leave it; he is in love with his chair.
More muted colors then I usually do, I think I will start using muted colors for awhile. I tend to over do the saturated color stuff.
I like taking picture of Kat. She always has a preconceived notion of what she wants out of the photos. She knows what she likes and what she dislikes. And she is easy to photograph, and photograph well I might add.
This time she wanted pictures of her tattoos with her face in them, and some head shots that showed off her pretty green eyes.
Kim was one of the newre girls at the windsor shoot off . She hadn’t posed ever before in front of a camera. I got to work with her both at the beginning of the day and near the very end, and believe me there was marked difference between the two. At the beginning she was kind of timid and shy and didn’t really know what to do or to expect. However, but the end she was posing left and right.
I could see her actually doi
