Belle Isle Rock Formations

So I was digging around my old pictures and I re-discovered these. Sometimes it is fun to look at old photos. For the most part though I don’t like to. Brings back old memories and emotions I’d just rather not deal with. It’s like each photo that you get attached to is a potential emotional time-bomb. It’s best to avoid those.

Anyways, these were taken way back in 2003, early in the morning. Long before I started taking photos more seriously. They aren’t 1/2 bad.

Every morning a guy in a white truck that he and his dog were living out of would make these rock piles. It made the evening news because none ever saw him doing it. But a friend and I waited up all night and met the person behind the formations. Some where I have more photos of them, and pictures of the guy and his dog. Maybe I’ll dig them up sometime, but probably not ‘cause I’m kinda lazy.

Belle Isle used to be a formula one race track. Now it is just a big park, complete with fountains, sculptures, a pier to fish from (gross), yachting club, and very few lights at night. This of it as Central Park; Detroit-style.
